Itinerary in Detail

DAY 1

Local Tour Nairobi

The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust dedicated to the rescue and rearing of baby Elephant and Rhino and returning them to the wild,
Giraffe Centre (The African Fund for Endangered Wildlife Kenya) responsible for breading and re populating Rothschild Giraffe,
Karen Blixen Museum once the farm house owned by Danish Author Karen and her Swedish Husband, Baron Bror von Blixen Fincke. The farm house gained international fame with the release of the movie ‘Out of Africa’ an Oscar winning film based on Karen’s autobiography by the same title.
Bomas of Kenya Dance and Cultural Centre. Mission:To preserve,maintain,educate and promote the diverse cultures of various ethnic groups in Kenya

DAY 2

MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE

Pickup at Kikuyu Lodge Hotel. Depart at 0730 for Masai Mara, driving south west to what has been aptly dubbed as the “ultimate game viewing destination in the world,” home to the largest wildebeest migration across two countries. Descend into the Great Rift Valley, brief rest halt at Narok town, proceed further south arrive at the lodge by 1200, lunch. early afternoon at leisure, afternoon game viewing drive at 1600, return by 1845. Evening at leisure, dinner and overnight.

DAY 3

MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE

Early morning game viewing run at 0630 (optional Balloon Safari with Champagne Breakfast, additional cost), return to the lodge by 0900 for breakfast. Morning at leisure.
Blessed with an outstanding concentration of animals and panoramic views of across the plains and dotted woodlands, the Masai Mara provides an experience unsurpassed. As the northern extension of the great Serengeti grassland, the reserve is host to the annual migration of over a million wildebeest –the most awesome wildlife spectacle on planet earth.
The Mara covers an area of about 1,500 square kilometers in the south-western corner of Kenya, is not fenced and bordered on the west by the Olooloo escarpment and in the east by the Ngama hills. The common language of the Masai is Maa in which the word Mara means spotted –referring to the clusters of bush which dot the plains.
In addition to the wildebeest and hordes of zebra which join them in their annual pilgrimage for pastures, the Masai Mara supports the lion, cheetah, elephant, kongoni, topi, Thomson’s gazelle and the Defassa waterbuck, as well as eight species of primate.
Lunch at 1230, early afternoon at leisure, game drive at 1600, return to the lodge by 1845. Dinner and overnight. FB.

DAY 4

MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE

Early morning game viewing run at 0630 (optional Balloon Safari with Champagne Breakfast, additional cost), return to the lodge by 0900 for breakfast. Morning at leisure. Lunch at 1230, early afternoon at leisure, game drive at 1600, return to the lodge by 1845. Dinner and overnight. FB.

DAY 5

LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast at 0700, depart at 0730 for Nakuru, driving to the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Arrive at the lodge by 1200, time at leisure. The lake is home to millions of flamingo which give the lake an unmistakable pink hue on the horizon. Lunch at 1230, early afternoon at leisure, game viewing run at 1600. The park hosts the endangered white rhino, lions, buffaloes, the elusive leopard and hordes of plains game. Return to the lodge by 1845. Dinner and overnight. FB.

DAY 6

TO SWEETWATERS VIA THOMSON FALLS

Depart at 0900 for Thomson Falls where water from the Aberdare ranges falls over 200 feet into a stony forested ravine, driving on to Sweetwaters. A sheltered oasis, clustered around a water hole and set in the pristine calm of the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Sweetwaters Tented Camp offers a charming blend of under-canvas ambiance and safari luxury.Located on the plains of Mount Kenya, the camp features thirty-nine luxury tents, each with its own private veranda overlooking the water hole. The central Rhino Restaurant is housed in the former manager’s house of this once colonial farm, and offers both regional and international cuisine. Also within the house is the Kashoggi Bar and lounge, which centres on a blazing log fire. The Waterhole Bar, built in the style of a game-viewing hide, overlooks the waterhole and offers unrivalled wildlife-watching. Host to all the members of the ‘Big Five’ (elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard), the conservancy has a higher wildlife-to-area ratio than any Kenyan national park and is one of only four private game conservancies to have been founded in Kenya. At the forefront of the Kenyan conservancy programme, the conservancy boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, hosts the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, and shelters large numbers of rare and endangered species.

DAY 7

GAME DRIVE IN OL PAJETA AND DRIVE TO SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE, SHABA OR MOUNT KENYA.

Samburu and Shaba National reserves are on the banks of the Ewaso Ngiro River which winds across semi arid landscape giving life to forest along its banks. This in turn attracts birds and wildlife from the savannah, crocodiles abound in the river and herds of elephant roam the plains. You rest on arrival and take in the scenery, taking dinner at the lodge by the river and overnight.
Mount Kenya Lodge is a Tree Hotel on the forested slopes of Kenya’s highest mountain. Overlooking its own water hole, which attracts a wide variety of game both day and night. Offering forest and moorland walks, spectacular scenery, breathtaking clean air. Trout fishing in mountain streams.

DAY 8

TWO GAME DRIVES

Morning Game Drive with the option of a second game drive or Bird watching nature walk.

Day 10

RETURN TO NAIROBI FOR DEPARTURE


Road Safari Tour is inclusive :

  2. Transport in and private use of a 7 seater safari microbus.
  3. Services and allowances of an English speaking driver guide.
  4. Game drives as indicated.
  5. Park fees for the vehicle and driver guide.
