They invested in the land at Kikuyu and with their combined experience of managing operations throughout East Africa and the desire to continue in the hospitality/travel business, they built this Kikuyu Lodge Hotel which opened in 2002.
Their experience of hotel living during their airline days stimulated a desire to bring a more personal touch to the business, reassuring those not used to travelling in Africa, and giving more home comforts, combined with the flexibility of organising tours and safaris to meet individual interests. The initial aim in aviation had been ‘aid and development’ they now fill that role by bringing investment and business to the local community. This is done by using locally sourced food to serve in the dining room and by creating employment. In addition to this they have also installed a comprehensive water supply network for the local community.
